Frown lines on your forehead or around the eyes develop with the movement of muscles on your face and as a result of thinning skin and sun damage. We have many treatments that can be used to help smooth and rejuvenate the skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin protein that when used in small doses has a number of medical and cosmetic uses. It is best known for reducing frown lines and wrinkles, softening creases in the forehead, or skin on the chin.

What’s the difference between anti-wrinkle injections and muscle relaxants?

Both these terms are commonly used interchangeably and generally mean the same process of using an injectable to target the muscle.

How does it work?

The product blocks the signal between the nerve and muscle. They now can’t communicate with each other and the muscle can’t contract. With the muscle not contracting the lines on the skin where the muscle attaches itself relaxes. The product eventually dissolves which is when you would need another treatment.

How do I know which areas I need to treat?

Our commitment to all our patients is to discuss all options with you and agree on an appropriate treatment plan that will help you achieve your goals.

Is it safe?

Most patients report a little sting as the needle and product are injected into the skin, other than that Botulinum toxin has been safely used around the UK for over 20 years and it’s been FDA approved in 1989 making it the first approved wrinkle treatment in the world.

Will I look fake or plastic?

As medical practitioners we understand the ageing process and will tailor your treatment to give you a refreshed look. Our goal is to give you confidence in looking your natural best.

Are there any side effects?

Most cosmetic treatments with muscle relaxant injections are generally well tolerated. Occasionally patients may complain about soreness, swelling, or bruising at the site of the injection. In rare circumstances complications include infection and allergic reaction and eyelid drooping (ptosis), always contact your doctor if you experience any of these side effects or have any questions whatsoever!
