A chemical peel is a solution applied to the skin to remove dead skin cells and improve skin’s appearance by reducing age spots, pigmentation, improving skin texture, and evening out skin tone. there are several or combinations of solutions that can be used depending on your skin type and concerns.
2 weeks prior to having your peel you will need to stop using any retinol-based products. 1 week before the peel do not wax or use any hair removal treatments, including laser, and the day before your treatment abstain from using any form of exfoliation.
As always ensure you are looking after your skin with cleansing, moisturising, and wearing an SPF.
You may notice a slight redness (erythema) and warmth for a few hours after your peel which should subside, there may also be slight peeling r flaking after a few days and your skin may feel tight and dry, it is important to not pick the skin and wear moisturiser during this time, once healed your skin will be clear and smooth.
You will be provided full aftercare instruction’s following your peel, however, some common do’s and don’ts’s include: Do not pick or touch your skin, avoid exfoliation or AHA products for at least 24 hours, use a gentle cleanser, avoid hot baths, steams, showers, saunas for 24-48 hours after treatment, avoid wearing make-up for 24hours unless it is a mineral or clinical-based make up for post-procedure. Do wear an SPF30 at a minimum and apply a light moisturiser often to relieve any dryness.
